Moments That Tell Our Story

Years of Change & Resilience

1827
The First Chapter
According to historical records, the school was opened by Captain James in a building in the Katara region, initially offering education from Class 6th to Class 12th. This marked the beginning of an educational institution whose journey would continue for nearly two centuries.
1834
Finding Its Place
By 1834, the school was operating from the residence of Rao Krishnarao Ringe. During its early years, the institution moved between locations, gradually establishing itself as an important centre of education and laying the foundation for its enduring legacy.
1835–1852
Growth Through Change
Between 1835 and 1852, the school operated from different premises in the Katara area. In 1839, a dedicated school building was constructed, marking an important milestone toward creating a permanent educational space and strengthening the institution’s foundation.
1852–1919
Continuing Through History
In 1852, the school moved to municipal premises. From 1856 to 1859, it temporarily operated near the D.F.O. bungalow during the 1857 uprising. In 1859, it returned to municipal premises, remaining there until its historic building was constructed.
1919
A New Landmark
The present historic school building was constructed by Sagar P.W.D. through Messrs. Tandon Brothers. The campus included the school, laboratory, hostel, and playground, creating a well-equipped educational space and becoming a lasting symbol of the institution’s heritage and history.
1958–1959
Strengthening Learning Infrastructure
During 1958–1959, the school expanded its facilities with Biology and Chemistry laboratories and associated rooms 13, 14 and 15, strengthening practical learning alongside classroom education.
1973–1987
Building for the Future
Between 1973 and 1987, the school campus saw major development. New hostel and office buildings, a sump well and pump house, and extended boundary walls and infrastructure were added, gradually shaping the campus as it exists today.
1984–2002
Entering a New Era
In 1984, further rooms and structural improvements were added to the school. By 1991, a dedicated computer room reflected the introduction of modern technology. Entering 2002, the school continued its journey while preserving a heritage of over 175 years.
2002–Present
Heritage, Learning & Continuity
Since its beginnings in 1827, the school has evolved through generations of students, teachers, and changing educational needs. From 1827 to 2002, it offered Classes 6 to 12. Since 2002, it has focused on higher secondary education, offering Classes 9 to 12 while preserving its heritage.
